Dmitri Vrubel, Fraternal Kiss Brezhnev and Honecker Embrace, 2014

dmitri-vrubel-fraternal-kiss-brezhnev-and-honecker-embraceThe message behind the work is that being gay isn’t something that should be banned/illegal. The way he have you important political people to show this is what I’m taking in my work. the humour helps people understand the message in the work. So the humour in my work make people understand that the people who look funny are the people we shouldn’t trust.

JR, Face2Face

The work show facial expression of a variety of people to represent two country’s getting along “When we met in 2005, we decided to go together to the Middle‐East to figure out why Palestinians and Israelis couldn’t find a way to get along together.” (http://www.jr-art.net/projects/face-2-face) this is something that my work is doing. its trying to show an emotion and thought that I have. Just like JR I’m trying to get a message across that something needs to change to better this country. The emotion explain what he what as do mine.0

Typology

Typology is something that my work has become. The ideas of typology is ” The term ‘Typology’ was first used to describe a style of photography when Bernd and Hilla Becher began documenting dilapidated German industrial architecture in 1959. The couple described their subjects as ‘buildings where anonymity is accepted to be the style’. Stoic and detached, each photograph was taken from the same angle, at approximately the same distance from the buildings. Their aim was to capture a record of a landscape they saw changing and disappearing before their eyes so once again, Typologies not only recorded a moment in time, they prompted the viewer to consider the subject’s place in the world.” this was said on https://blog.redbubble.com/2012/04/photographic-typologies-the-study-of-types/

My work has developed into something like this. Taking a series of portraits and changing them to create this type of work.

Ari Versluis, Gabbers – Rotterdam 1994 and Mohawks – Rotterdam 1998

The work created by Ari Versluis has influenced my work in many way. The way I will display my work and the idea of the work I have made. The orderly format of the work has inspired my work to display my work in an orderly way. This is because it have a more visually appealing astatic to the work. its not taking away from the artwork.  Creating a range of photo of people with slight variations to show social uniform. I’m not looking at the same thing but is similar way in how we have a range of portraits with slight changes

Duchamp, Fountain, 1917

Duchamp_FountaineDuchamp’s Fountain was considered “Anti Art” this lead to people not like his work and views. This is something that I have to think about. As people aren’t going to see eye to eye with the work I create. The work I’ve made will cause conflict with some people viewing the art. This is something that I want. I want people to understand my thought about what’s going on. They may not agree with the idea I’m putting forward but at least they will understand that what they think isn’t what everyone thinks.

L’album photographique de la famille de B, 1991, Christian Boltanski

christian-boltanski-lalbum-photographique-de-la-famille-de-b.jpg

L’album photographique de la famille de B, 1991. This translate into The photographic album of the B family, 1991. The work created by Christian Boltanski is something that has created conflict in the thought process of displaying a series of work. The unformatted layout of this has sparked an idea, which is to display some of the work I have created to cause a question to the people. The question is that why are they not been placed level? This will have to explored

Portrait (Self) #1 as control + 11 Alterations by Retouching and Airbrushing by John Baldessari 1974

baldessari-photo-011

This series of photographic portraits is something that is very similar to the work I have created, where I’m showing a selection of portraits which have been altered to depict something my thoughts of the person in the painting. The format of these photos is what I’m considering to display my work like. In an orderly fashion to take nothing away from the portraits.

Corinna Spencer, Portrait of a Lady (2015)

corinna-spencer-300x201.jpg

The work is showing a 1000 portraits. it was displayed at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery. This idea of a mass production of portraits is something the has intrigued my work. The order of how it has been done is what I want to take from this work. the displaying of the work is even and symmetrical and is something that I’m considering. The portraits used during the work are distorted, which is similar to what I have done to the paintings I’ve created.

Protest Art

Wikipedia said that “Protest art is a broad term that refers to creative works that concern or are produced by activists and social movements.” this is something that my artwork is in relation with. As I am creating work about a current event that’s and trying to protest against people that I don’t like in Brexit. So, my work is will be considered Activist/Protest movement. As I am against some of the leaders in Brexit and want change to this which I’ll do through my work
